Allie Davis on to NCAA Division III tourney

Fairfield’s Allie Davis and her Springfield College women’s lacrosse team will head to Endicott for the opening round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Championship, which was announced on Sunday evening on the national selection show.
Davis, a product of Fairfield Warde, is a senior midfielder for Pride, which captured its second-straight New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship, will play on May 8 at a time to be determined.
The last time Springfield and Endicott played was last season during Spring Break when it fell to Endicott, 12-6. Both Davis and Kelly Gallo scored twice for the Pride in the loss.
Davis has 12 goals and five assists on the season.
This marks Springfield’s fifth trip to the NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse championship, as the Pride previously competed on the national scene in 2002, 2005, and 2006, and 2012.
The Gulls captured their eighth consecutive CCC women’s lacrosse title on Saturday afternoon with a 17-15 victory over Western New England.
Springfield and Endicott have played three common opponents this season, as both squads both Wellesley, Babson, and Roger Williams.
The Gulls defeated Wellesley in its season opener, 16-3, on March 6, bested Roger Williams, 21-2, on April 12 and lost to Babson, 13-8, April 21.
