Possible attempted child abduction reported

A woman reported that an unidentified Indian male may have attempted to abduct her daughter at Jennings Beach on April 27.

The daughter was walking with her cousins and their children through the parking lot at the time. The suspect allegedly grabbed the 10-year-old girl and pulled her through the parking lot. He was stopped and asked what he was doing. He said he made a mistake and thought he had grabbed his own daughter.

The suspect was described as a dark-skinned Indian male with glasses and a wearing a hooded sweatshirt. He may have been in his 20s.

The incident was not reported to Fairfield police until May 3.
