The Fairfield Ludlowe boys track traveled to Norwalk on April 30 and lost to the Bears, but defeated Stamford High to improve its record to 4-4.
Highlights for Ludlowe included a couple of new state qualifiers, a new school record, and strong performances by its captains.
Senior Brian Haughn won the 800 (in a state qualifying time of 2:05.4) and also anchored the first-place 4×400 relay.
Junior captain Josh Archer had a solid day, winning the javelin with a throw of 141-11 and winning the 1600 at 4:52.7.
Sophomore Zach Kenton led the team in the sprints, winning the 400 at 54.2 and earning valuable points in the 100 and 200.
Senior captain Ryan Arrigo placed third in the 110 hurdles at 16.5 and second in the 300 hurdles at 42.5, qualifying for states in both events.
Senior captain Rob Ficarra won the shot put, setting a new school record with a state qualifying throw of 45-11.
Senior captain Brian Peterson won the pole vault at 10-0, and senior captain Peter Jacobs won the long jump at 18-6.
Overall, the Falcons competed well and team members had over 20 new personal bests on the day.
