Social workers support Dean in 134th

Heather Dean received the endorsement from the Connecticut branch of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) in her bid to represent the 134th District in the General Assembly.

CT-PACE, the organization’s political action committee, selected Dean over her opponent Tony Hwang, citing her accomplishments and shared goals.

“This is her first endorsement and a significant one considering her professional experience,” according to a press release from the candidate.

NASW is the largest membership organization of professional social workers in the world, with 145,000 members. It works to enhance the professional growth and development of its members, to create and maintain professional standards, and to advance sound social policies.

“I am deeply gratified to receive this endorsement,” Dean said in a press release. “Their work impacts all of us and it is truly an honor to be among the select few to receive this nod.”

Dean, a member of Fairfield’s Representative Town Meeting, is running for the State Representative seat in the 134th district which includes portions of Fairfield and Trumbull.
