Fairfield organizations, businesses encouraged to participate in town’s birthday celebration

First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced that the town of Fairfield is inviting local organizations and businesses to be part of the 2014 community-wide commemoration of the town’s 375th anniversary.

The town, which is in the early stages of planning next year’s commemoration, encourages local organizations and businesses to consider ways to help mark the anniversary — either by highlighting an aspect of the town’s history or by celebrating its future. The town will work with participants to promote their events and activities as part of the year-long commemoration.

Any organization or business that is interested in participating in Fairfield’s 375th celebration may send an email to [email protected] by May 1 that includes the name of the organization or business, a contact person with a phone number and email address and a short list of ideas on how the business or organization would like to participate in the 375th commemoration (it is all right if businesses or organizations do not yet know at this time).

The town will be creating a list of participating organizations and businesses and will inform those participants by email of plans as they evolve, as well as upcoming deadlines to promote events and activities.

“I look forward to our community coming together to celebrate our town’s rich heritage and tremendous achievements” Tetreau said. “This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the many wonderful aspects of our town. I am certain this year-long commemoration will be a wonderful occasion for everyone.”
