Sacred Heart University to host study skills summer program

Sacred Heart University and Successful Study Skills 4 Students (S4) will offer four summer sessions of S4’s study skills workshops at both the Fairfield and Stamford campuses of Sacred Heart.

The workshops, which are geared toward students in ninth through 12th grades and pre-college students, promote academic achievement by teaching students key study strategies that help them learn while reducing stress. To provide concentrated attention to each student, class size is limited to 15 students.

Taught by accredited teachers, students will learn 10 skills that are essential for successful learning and studying, including goal setting, time management, note-taking methods, asking questions, active reading, understanding main ideas and important details, using visuals, summarizing to learn, notebook organization and quiz, test and long-term project preparation strategies.

S4 program provides take-home materials that complement and outline the workshop sessions, and are designed for ongoing student support. Each three-workshop session costs $395.

Sessions will be held at the Fairfield campus July 9 through 11, from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 4 p.m. To register, visit tinyurl.com/SHU-Fairfield-Summer-2013-AM or tinyurl.com/SHU-Fairfield-Summer-2013-PM.

Sessions will be held at the Stamford campus Aug. 20 through 22, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. and 5 to 7:30 p.m. To register, visit tinyurl.com/SHU-Stamford-Summer-2013-1 or tinyurl.com/SHU-Stamford-Summer-2013-2.
