The 1,000th signer of Pequot Library’s “Save Pequot Library from Closing” petition dropped by the open-to-the-public small community library today.

Local piano teacher Jacob Habegger signed the petition on a public laptop, in the Reading Room of Pequot Library. As of 2 p.m, today, April 10, Pequot Library’s petition has 1,053 signatures.

“The petition was sent to library patrons at 4 p.m. Tuesday,” said Martha Gates Lord, Pequot’s executive director. “We will be presenting the list to the RTM members. With this support, Pequot Library has increased our goal to 5,000 signatures to ‘Save Pequot Library from Closing.’”

The public can sign the petition at ipetitions.com/petition/save-pequot-library.
