Fawcett attends fourth Interfaith Hunger Seder

Fairfield-fawcettsederState Rep. Kim Fawcett recently attended the fourth annual Interfaith Hunger Seder at the State Capitol. The Seder is held to celebrate Passover and to bring awareness to hunger issues.

“I was happy to attend this year’s Interfaith Seder,” Fawcett said. “Up to 50 million Americans go hungry every day. That is a number I don’t think most people know, and I applaud the groups sponsoring this Seder for bringing awareness to this issue.”

The event performs a traditional Passover Seder with stories to show participants the difficulties people of the Jewish faith have faced in their history. This particular event is unique in the way the ceremony intertwines Connecticut poverty and hunger statistics into the story. They make a connection between struggles of people from long ago with the struggles of people in our country today.

“It was a beautiful ceremony and I was so honored to have an opportunity to not only participate but learn more about the Jewish culture and hunger issues in our state,” Fawcett said.
