Dismembered goat found on beach

Fairfield police and animal control are looking for help identifying an animal found dismembered on Jennings Beach on March 31. A jogger made the grisly discovery.

The animal was found in a clear plastic bag that may have washed up on the beach. Its head and portions of the rear legs were missing.

The jogger placed the carcass in a nearby trash can away from where it was found to prevent children from stumbling upon it. He then contacted police.

The remains were examined by Dr. John Kristy at Engelberg-Kristy Animal Hospital. He concluded the remains appear to be the carcass of a domestic goat, mostly black with white patches of fur.

The head, feet and portions of the legs appear to have been removed using a knife-type object.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Animal Control Officer at 203-254-4857.
