Thanks the community, sponsors, volunteers for fund-raiser help

To the Editor:

For what was its 27th year, the Junior Women’s Club of Fairfield recently brought holiday spirit to the Burr Homestead with its “A Visit to Santa’s House” fund-raiser. This year’s event raised $10,000 for our charitable partner, The Thomas Merton Family Center, and $5,000 for the Fairfield Storm Sandy Relief Fund.

Such a successful event wouldn’t be possible without the help and support of individuals and businesses in our community each and every year. The holiday cheer in every room was made possible from our generous sponsors, most especially our presenting sponsor, Newman’s Own, and house sponsor General Electric. Our room sponsors, Bigelow Tea, BlackIron Group, Chloe’s Closet, Dr. Salvatore M. Pizzino, D.D.S., Flash Pointe Dance Station, Giant Steps Toys and Baby, HobbyTown USA and Nannies as Needed, brought their own magic to the event. We would also like to thank our media sponsors, News12, WEBE 108/WICC 600 and SuzySaid, for their support in publicizing the event.

The club would also like to thank our many donors — too many individuals and businesses to list here, unfortunately — but vital to the event’s success in 2012.

We also appreciate the number of local organizations and individuals who shared their time and talent to entertain close to 2,000 visitors over that weekend. Preparing the Burr Homestead for Santa and our visitors, and keeping things running smoothly, was made possible with the help of many volunteers, including those from the Fairfield University rugby team, Fairfield Warde Key Club, Notre Dame Fairfield Campus Ministry and Wakeman Boys and Girls Club

The Junior Women’s Club of Fairfield is humbled each year by these willing donors, volunteers, and the hundreds of families who walk through the front door of “Santa’s House,” coming together to make the holidays brighter for our neighbors.  We thank you all for your continued support.
