Bowtell captures State Open championship

Jake Bowtell, a junior at Fairfield Prep won the State Open diving championship with a score of 491.10 at Middletown High School on Thursday, March 14.
He is the first Fairfield Prep diver to win a State Open championship since Thomas Thomas in 1994.
Bowtell capped off a stellar season going undefeated in dual meets, winning the SCC Championship, taking second at the LL Championships and then claiming the State Open title.
He also broke the 6- and 11-dive Fairfield Prep team records.
Prep divers Tanner Blank, a junior, and sophomore Robert McCrory also qualified for the State Open finishing 13th and 16th, respectively.
It was the first time three Prep divers qualified for the State Open in the same year.
The State Open concludes on Saturday, March 16 with the swimming competition at Yale beginning at 2:30 p.m.
Prep heads into the State Open Championship coming off a SCC Championship and a strong  runner-up finish at the LL Championships.
