Prep earns spot in Division I final

The Fairfield Prep hockey team will play Notre Dame of West Haven for the Division I championship at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 19 at Yale’s Ingalls Rink.
Coach Matt Sather’s top-seeded Jesuits defeated fifth-seeded Ridgefield High 4-1, in the semifinals on Wednesday, while the second-seeded Green Knights disposed of third-seeded Darien High, 8-0.
Bill D’Amore gave Prep a 1-0 lead off a Dean Lockery assist 1:15 into the contest.
Brendan Killoy scored at the 3:51 mark and Prep took a 2-0 lead into the first break.
After a scoreless second period, Ridgefield (17-6) halved its deficit on Alex Rowella’s goal just 42 seconds into the final frame.
Matt Wikman extended the lead to 3-1 at 6:54 before Lockery closed the scoring at 7:36.
