Man violates order Gregg Gerathy, 53, of Shelton Road told Fairfield police he just wanted...

Man violates order

Gregg Gerathy, 53, of Shelton Road told Fairfield police he just wanted to take his ex-girlfriend out for a night on the town on May 20, even though she has a protective order against him.

Gerathy was spotted in his car in a neighbor’s driveway allegedly waiting for his girlfriend, a Fairfield resident, to return home. He eventually backed the car out, backed down the road and then returned to her driveway.

When officers approached him and asked why he was there, Gerathy told them he was planning on taking his ex-girlfriend out.

A protective order she filed against him orders Gerathy to have no contact whatsoever with the victim. Police discovered that earlier in the day Gerathy allegedly made several phone calls to the victim as well.

Gerathy was charged with violation of a protective order and held on a $5,000 bond. He appeared in court on May 21.

Tablets stolen

A Fern Street resident believes a relative stole his iPad on May 21. He told police the suspect has stolen items from him before.

The victim said he left the iPad in the kitchen after the relative asked to see it. The victim went to the bathroom, came back and the device was missing.

——

A Kindle Fire belonging the son of a family on Mill Pain Road has learned it was stolen again, not long after Fairfield police recovered the device on May 21.

Police received a call that the missing tablet had turned up at Fairfield Fencing Academy. It originally went missing in March.

However, when police arrived to collect the device, they discovered that it was once again missing. They believe it was likely stolen from the academy.

Cars broken into

Fairfield police discovered two cars at Fairfield Cinemas with their windows smashed in on May 21. Notes were left for the owners to contact police.

As both vehicles were spotted by officers after the fact and the owner’s were not immediately available, it was impossible to determine what was taken. One car was from Easton, the other from Weston.

Employment scam

A Fairfield resident on Ridgely Avenue was hopeful when she sent a California company $199 to help land a job at a Norwalk medical office. The CD she received in the mail was less than helpful.

It was mostly blank according to Fairfield police, and contained little more than a contact phone number. When the woman called the company they told her a refund would be processed. It never came.

The victim told police that after she received the CD she did a web search to learn more about the company. Numerous complaints were posted indicating the entire set-up was fraudulent.

Stolen credit card

A Farmstead Hill Road resident reported that someone has been purchasing collectible coins with her credit information.

Police said a stolen card has been used to order numerous coins from a handful of companies. The card was canceled, but not before more than $1,200 in charges were accrued.

The family reported that a similar incident happened last year.

Theft

An 87-year-old Tuckahoe Lane resident agreed to sell golf balls to a man initially offering to fix his driveway on May 20. Now the senior citizen claims the individual and a possible accomplice stole $2,000 from him.

The victim told police the suspect, a possibly Hispanic male, 35 to 36 years old, standing between 5’6” and 5’8” with wiry gray and black hair, initially approached him with an offer to fix his driveway for $60. The victim said his son’s do the home maintenance and passed on the offer.

Then the suspect allegedly noticed the victim sells golf balls and offered to buy some. However, all he had on his person was a $100 bill.

They both went inside, where the victim got change from his bedroom. When he returned the suspect inquired about purchasing golf clubs and the victim took him to the basement where he kept his wife’s set.

While down there, the suspect called someone and spoke in a language the victim did not recognize. He did however recall the Hispanic male had an individual with him inside his gray truck parked outside. The victim began to feel like he was being stalled.

After the suspect left, the victim returned to the bedroom and discovered the missing money.

The victim noted this was the second time the suspect has come to his home offering to fix his driveway.

Purse stolen

An elderly woman who left her purse in her car while grocery shopping at Super Stop & Shop in Fairfield returned to find it stolen on May 20. The car was left unlocked and the purse was in the front passenger floorboard.

——

A Green Acre Lane resident was home when a thief removed her purse from her unlocked car on May 21.

Neighbors on nearby Crestwood Road recovered the purse and returned it. The purse contained personal papers and a safe deposit box key.

Police reports noted that the woman’s car was parked next to her trash bins and the theft occurred at about the same time as her garbage service came to collect. Their route takes them from Green Acre Lane to the section of Crestwood Road, where the purse was recovered.

Stolen phone

A Fairfield woman was not exactly sure where she lost her cell phone on May 20, but she was positive she did not sell it to a Gamestop in Stratford. That is where an employee who had just purchased the phone for $19.80 was.

The employee turned the phone over to police, who returned it to the owner. He also provided information on the Norwalk man who allegedly sold him the phone.

According to police, the identification presented was for Reginald Joseph, 43, of Baxter Drive, Norwalk. Joseph is a convicted felon with multiple charges according to police.

The victim chose not to press charges.

Car hits pole

A Fairfield resident said his car was “sucked in” to bushes and a utility pole on May 21. His right side tires had edged too close to the curb and he was pulled off-road when they hit the grass.

A utility pole was snapped in half from the collision.

No significant injuries were reported.

DUI

A Fairfield woman was driving her children to school when her car went off the road and struck a tree on May 20, at 7:30 a.m.

Colleen Fecke, 47, of Queen Grant Road was charged with driving under the influence, failure to drive right and risk of injury to a minor. She was released on a $250 bond for court on June 4.

According to police, Fecke was traveling on Sturges Road when her vehicle went off the road and stroke a tree. She swerved and the vehicle continued on into a second tree. Neither Fecke nor the two children in the car were injured.

Officers on the scene detected the odor of alcohol. Roadside sobriety tests were administered, which Fecke allegedly did not pass. She was taken to Westport for a breath test, which showed she was over the legal limit. She was returned to Fairfield custody and processed for arrest.

The case has been referred to the Fairfield Youth Bureau and the Department of Children and Families.

She is about 9-10 years old, calm, loves attention and is fine with other mellow cats.

Baby has been through a lot, so she deserves a special spoiled home. She may be best in a somewhat quiet adult home and she also would be great company for someone alone.
