January is radon awareness month. According to the Environment Protection Agency (EPA), radon is an “odorless, tasteless, invisible gas that is produced by the decay of naturally occurring uranium in soil and water”. Radon can be found in the outside air, and in buildings and houses. Exposure to radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking.
