Fairfield Independence Day Grucci Firework show will be held Friday, July 3. Fireworks go off just after dark, usually around 9:15 p.m., from a barge off of Long Island Sound, so the show may be seen easily from either Penfield or Jennings Beaches. Rain date is Saturday, July 4. Lalie Madriguera from Swing to Samba will be the warm-up band playing from 5-7 p.m. at Jennings Beach. Pequot Library’s annual 4th of July Bike Parade and Lawn Games will again commence at the Five Corners in Southport Village with decorated bikes, scooters, and wagons on Saturday, July 4, at 10 a.m. A street parade will weave its way to the Great Lawn of Pequot Library where fun and games will commence. Rooftop solar installation ribbon-cutting ceremony

Construction is now complete on a 132kW solar array on the rooftop of the Black Rock Congregational Church of Fairfield. The church plans to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7. SHR Energy Management, of Weston, Connecticut, developed the project from inception.
