Series looks at women authors
The Fairfield Woods Branch Library is hosting a four-part lecture series, Write Life with Dr. Mona Garcia,” on Mondays at 6:30 p.m., beginning April 8 and continuing on April 22, May 6 and 20.
The program will focus on women authors who left a permanent mark on 19-century English literature. The series will begin with Jane Austen and continue with Elizabeth Barrett Browning, the Brontë Sisters and conclude with Elizabeth Gaskell.

Program to focus on Kubrick films
Dr. Mark Schenker will be focusing on the films of Stanley Kubrick in the third installment of his series, “How to Read a Film.” Film screenings will be on Mondays at 2 p.m. and discussions will follow on Thursdays at 7 in the Rotary Room in the main library at Fairfield Public Library.
The schedule is as follows: The Killing, April 15 and 18; Paths of Glory, April 22 and 25; Dr. Strangelove, April 29 and May 2; and Barry Lyndon, May 20 and 23.
The screening of Barry Lyndon on May 20 will take place at 1 due to the length of the film.

Gardening tips, seeds to be exchanged at workshop
A seedling exchange will be held at the Fairfield Woods Branch Library on Saturday, May 18, at 10 a.m.
The workshop, led by Eric Frisk, will begin at the library and move to the community garden for planting. Participants are encouraged to bring a few starter plants to exchange with other gardeners.

‘Marvelous Mutts’ to put on show
To launch Pequot Library’s “Dig into Reading” program, The Marvelous Mutts will appear on the Great Lawn on Saturday, June 1, from 2 to 3 p.m. In case of rain, show will be held in the auditorium.
A team of mutts, all adopted from shelters, will perform feats of agility and focus. A meet and greet will follow. Bring a blanket or low chair.
