Public invited to BBQ festival

The first annual Southern New England Kosher BBQ Championship and Festival is coming to Fairfield on Sunday, Sept. 7, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Congregation Beth El hosts the event featuring about 30 barbecue teams, food eating contests, performers, kids’ play zones and activities and artisan vendors. Admission will be a donation of two canned goods for Operation Hope’s food pantry. The event is open to the general public. For more information, visit snekosherbbq.org.

MADD walk

Walk Like MADD to Eliminate Drunk Driving will take place Saturday, Oct. 25. The signature walk of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, is a community-driven 5K event that raises funds and saves lives. Every step taken and every dollar raised supports MADD’s initiatives in Connecticut. Walk registration begins at 8:30 a.m.; walk at 10, Fairfield Ludlowe High School, 785 Unquowa Road.
