Hourani takes third at State Open

Ahmed Hourani placed third and Pharoah Eaton took a fourth to lead Fairfield Warde to a fifth-place showing at the State Open Wrestling Championships held at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven on Saturday.
Fairfield Ludlowe tied for 26th. Danbury High won the team title followed by Windham.
Hourani pinned Lyman Memorial/Windham Tech’s Darick Orange at 3:25 of the heavyweight consolation final.
Eaton fell in the first period to South Windsor’s Max Odell at 132 pounds.
Dan Ebert (120 pounds), Dylan Bender (138 pounds) and Thomas Anania (170 pounds) placed sixth.
Ludlowe’s George Wales was fifth at 106 pounds and Ben Batulanon was sixth at 113 pounds.
