Man dies in Sunnyridge Ave. standoff

UPDATE SUNDAY, 8:04 a.m.: According to numerous broadcast reports, the man involved in the standoff on Sunnyridge Avenue died Saturday night.

A shot was reportedly fire, doingitlocal.com reported.

Prior to that, a special response team and armored vehicle were summoned to the scene.

Police Chief Gary MacNamara told television stations that the man took his own life.

More details will be posted as they become available.

SATURDAY, 8:52 p.m.: Fairfield Police are involved in a standoff on Sunnyridge Avenue shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23.

According to doingitlocal.com, a man inside an apartment has multiple weapons registered to him.

Police are on scene, and the midnight shift has been called in early, according to doingitlocal.com.

Sunnyridge Avenue is north of I-95, south of Jennings Road, just west of Black Rock Turnpike near the Exit 24 entrance to I-95 south.
