Fairfield firefighters were able to extinguish a burning car before flames spread to a nearby garage Tuesday morning, Jan. 22.
A call reporting a car on fire in the driveway at 1063 Church Hill Road was received at 7:50 a.m.
Because the car was next to a detached garage, Engines 2, 3 and 5, Ladder 2 and Car 3 were dispatched.
The crew of Engine 3 reported a car “fully involved (on fire)” when it arrived at 7:56 a.m.
Company 3 doused the fire without extension to the garage or house.
Engine 2 was assigned to the nearest hydrant, while Ladder 2 checked to make sure the fire had not spread.
Assistant Chief Scott Bisson was incident commander.
Fire Marshal Bill Kessler was also on the scene and spoke with the occupant of the home.
Ladder 2 and Car 3 were back in service by 8:16 a.m., Engine 3 was the last unit to clear at 8:48 a.m.
The Fire Marshal’s Office is continuing to investigate the fire.
