The Notre Dame of Fairfield boys basketball team defeated Bunnell of Stratford, 73-72 on Saturday in the championship game of the SWC Tip-Off Tournament, which had been delayed due to the Sandy Hook tragedy.
The host Lancers took a 42-29 lead into the half, before the Bulldogs won the third quarter by a 27-16 margin to climb within 58-56.
Dan Upchurch, who was 15-for-16 from the foul line, led Notre Dame (8-3) with 25 points. The Lancers were 26-for-33 from the stripe overall.
Bunnell (9-2) was paced by Isaac Vann (26 points).
Jaylen Jennings scored 16 points for ND, Earl Coleman 15 and C.J. Davidson 12.
