Lars Urban Soderstrom, 44, of Old Hill Farm Road, Westport, was arrested by Fairfield police after he allegedly uttered racial slurs and threatened to shoot a cab driver. He was arrested Jan. 12, at 3:45 a.m.
Police received a call from the cab driver that he was being held by gunpoint by Soderstrom. When police located the alleged assailant they found no weapon on his person.
Soderstrom caught the cab in Bridgeport. As the ride moved toward Fairfield he became verbally violent according to the cab driver. According to the reports, Soderstrom refused to pay and uttered racial slurs. The driver said that after Soderstrom existed the car he reached into his waistband and threatened to shoot.
Soderstrom was charged with sixth-degree larceny, breach of peace, second-degree intimidation based on bigotry or bias, threatening and refusal to be fingerprinted. He was held overnight on a $5,000 bond, which was later lowered to $500 after he agreed to the fingerprinting. He is due in court on Jan. 22.
