Hoop Shoot winners

Fairfield Warde High School was the site this past Sunday for the district finals of the Elk’s Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest, hosted by the Fairfield Elks Lodge.
Town champions from the other Elk lodges in the district convened for the contest to produce six winners, who will be now entered in the state finals at New Britain in February.
Shooters from West Haven garnered the lion’s share, capturing three first-place trophies and a trip to New Britain.
In the 8-9 age group, Stamford’s  Klarke Moore took the girl’s prize, as did Michael Alfano of West Haven.
The 10-11 winners were West Haven’s Keegan Riccio in the girl’s division with Keyon Moore of Danbury’s high overall score of the day with 22-of-25 topped his counterparts.
Christiana Cottrell of Redding, representing the host Fairfield Elks, had best girl score with 21-of-25 swishers,  just one better than West Haven’s Sean Morrissey,  as both emerged victorious in the 12-13 bracket.
In the New Britain state finals, winners emerge to compete in the New England championships in Portland, Maine, where success wins a trip to Springfield, Mass. for the national championships.
