A Shelton man was arrested after Fairfield Police said he jumped from a car on I-95 and went on a destructive rampage in a Cumberland Farms convenience store.
Avdi Rugova, 19, of Fairmont Place, was arrested on Jan. 8, 2:37 a.m., charged with breach of peace, criminal mischief in the second degree and interfering with an officer.
Fairfield Police said that Rugova got out of a vehicle, presumably traveling at a low rate of speed, on I-95. He then walked to the Cumberland Farms at 975 Kings Highway East, at the bottom of the Exit 24 ramp off I-95 south.
Once inside the store, police said, Rugova caused $800 in damage to tiles and handrails in the rest room for handicapped patrons.
Police said they determined Rugova was intoxicated when they arrived.
Officers said he resisted arrest and continued trying to damage the store.
Bond was $1,000 for court Jan. 15.
