Police looking for black Lab

Fairfield Animal Control officers are looking for the owner of a black Labrador mix by the name of “Pippa” to verify vaccination records following a biting incident. Pippa allegedly jumped on and bit a woman in near Fairfield Beach Club on Dec. 22 around noon.

The victim said she was walking near the high water line in the area of Penfield Beach when an unleashed black Labrador mix ran up and jumped on her. The owner, a Caucasian woman in her 40s or 50s wearing a black puffer jacket and white knit hat, called to Pippa.

Instead of heeding its master’s call, Pippa circled the victim and jumped again; this time biting at her arms. The victim did not realize she had been bitten and left the area. She later discovered three puncture marks. The incident was reported the next day.

Fairfield Animal Control has no record of a dog matching this description with the name Pippa. They need to locate the owner and verify the vaccination records, in particular rabies. If they cannot locate the owner, the victim may need post exposure rabies shots.

Anyone with information on Pippa or its owner is asked to contact Fairfield Animal Control at 203-254-4857.
