The annual PBA Toy Drive Road Race took a somber turn this year as hundreds of toys were donated by race participants and many others. At the conclusion of the race, Sgt.. Ed Kovac, Sgt. Greg Gunter and Officer Mark Letsch hitched a ride with Robert Randolph of William B Meyer Inc. and drove all of the toys collected Sunday, Dec. 16, to the Newtown Police Department.
These toys will in turn be distributed to the children of the Sandy Hook Elementary School in time for the holidays.
“Once again, the thoughts and prayers of all of us at the Fairfield Police Department go out to the families of the victims of the Newtown tragedy as well as to all the members of the Newtown Police Department and the Newtown Community during this very difficult time,” according to a Fairfield Police Facebook posting.
