Nat J.Montalbano, 91, of Trumbull, formerly of Fairfield, died Dec. 1.
Born in Sciacca, Italy, on Sept. 24, 1921, Nat lived in Brooklyn and Queens, NY before moving to Fairfield in 1972.
After graduating from Brooklyn Technical H.S., he served in the Army in England during World War II, and was proud to attend Ursinus College and NYU on the G.I. Bill. He spent most of his career as Director of Purchasing for Ragu Foods at Chesebrough-Ponds/Unilever.
Nat leaves four children: John and his wife Valerie of Rocky Hill; JoAnne Weiss and her husband Robert of Trumbull, CT; Nick and his wife Marie of Warwick, RI; and Mary Heller and her husband Jon of Poughkeepsie, NY; six grandchildren: Michelle Rose, Anthony Nat, Charles Jeremy (CJ), Sara Rose, Christopher John; and Christiana Danielle; one great grandchild, Kassidy Rose; and many nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Rose (Alonzo), their precious daughter, Marianne, who died at 9 months old, his parents, John and Josephine (DeSaro), and his siblings, Joe, Josephine, Anna, Sam, Lucy and Mike.
Nat lived at Spring Meadows in Trumbull for the last 11 years, where he made many friends and was very active. He enjoyed family gatherings, traveling, rooting for the Giants and Mets, and going to the casino with friends.
Calling hours will be Tuesday Dec. 4th from 3:00-5:00 pm and 7-9 p.m. at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 So. Benson Rd., Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday Dec. 5th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, 6948 Main St., Trumbull. The burial will immediately follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nat’s memory to the American Diabetes Assn., BESB (Board of Ed. Services for the Blind), or the Fresh Air Fund.
