A driver was found on a local golf course some eight hours after his car left the road and struck trees there Sunday, Dec. 2.
Police said the 20-year-old Fairfield man, whose name has not yet been released, told officers he was driving east on Golf View Terrace around 2 a.m.
The victim could not recall how his car ended up in the woods at D. Fairchild Wheeler Golf Club. Golfview Terrace is a dead-end that runs into the southernmost part of the course, located at 2390 Easton Tpke.
A golfer noticed an SUV in the woods shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday. Upon further investigation, he saw a man on the ground near the vehicle.
The driver reportedly told police he had “experimented” with perscription drugs, and police said several pills were found in a backpack.
The crash remains under investigation.
