Pequot Library holds 57th annual summer book sale

Pequot Library’s 57th annual Summer Book Sale runs from July 21-25, offering more than 140,000 discounted books, CDs, DVDs, vinyl LPs, and audio books. Items may be found under the tents on Pequot Library’s Great Lawn and parking lot, and in the Auditorium, Reading Room, and Rennell Room. Admission is free and open to the public. Proceeds directly fund Pequot Library’s more than 750 annual programs and events. The gently used books for all ages have been donated by the community. Fairfield’s First Selectman, Michael Tetreau will be this year’s official book sale cannon starter at 9 a.m. on Friday, July 21.

New this year on Sunday, July 23, Pequot welcomes three community partners. From 9 a.m.-4 p.m. the Fairfield Canine Cooperative will have information about adoptable dogs; from noon-2, Jim Royale will perform on drums through Music for Youth, and The New Paradigm Theatre will have an information booth all day. Fairfield Canine Cooperative is a rescue organization based in Fairfield, dedicated to saving innocent animals, providing comfortable shelter in a farm-style setting, and carefully placing them with forever families. Music for Youth’s mission is bringing classical music, professionally performed, into the lives of young people in Fairfield County, Connecticut. The New Paradigm Theatre is a professional theatre company fostering creative problem solvers, leaders, and global citizens through theatre arts education and productions.

Featured this year from a private collection are hundreds of vintage stock and bond certificates and related books that will be conveniently located in one location (the main Reading Room of the Library).

Hours and pricing for the book sale is Friday, July 21, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., double the marked price (with a discount of 20% offered on all “non-special” purchases that total more than $250 on that day); Saturday, July 22, 9-6, priced as marked; Sunday, July 23, 9-6, priced as marked; Monday, July 24, 9-6,  half the marked price; Tuesday, July 25, 9-2, $5 per bag day.
