Santa Claus is coming to town Saturday, Nov. 24, when the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual Santa’s Arrival.
Santa Claus will arrive at Sherman Green by hook-and-ladder down Reef Road at 10 a.m. He will sit in the gazebo until approximately 2:30 p.m. to listen to the wide-eyed wishes of the children. Each child will then receive a small, plush animal as a gift sponsored by Hansen’s Flowers.
Hot chocolate, wreaths, holiday cards and ornaments, and tickets to events are among the items that will be available as 28 community organizations will line Sherman Green. The chamber has invited town organizations and others to sell items to support their programs or benefit a charity, offering face painting, baked goods, hot cider, tickets or discounts to local events, ornaments, reindeer food, letters to Santa, and more. Several organizations will sell or give away holiday sweets, ranging from oversized cookies and other baked goods to candy and hot chocolate.
A portion of the proceeds from all participants will be donated to charity, and many of the organizations will use all of the money made at Santa’s Arrival to further their own or other charitable causes.
There will be a children’s petting zoo from 10 to 1, weather permitting.
Horse and buggy rides, available from 10:15 to 2:30, are sponsored by Bigelow Tea, Fairfield Living Magazine-Moffly Media, Splash Car Wash, and Massage Envy.
The Kiwanis Club will provide breakfast sandwiches, hot dogs and hamburgers.
In the case of heavy snow or rain, the event will be canceled.
Information is available from the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce at 203-255-1011.
