Mayor Bill Finch will join members of the Donnelly Family on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m., to rededicate Goosetown Park in memory of local residents Tim and Kim Donnelly.
The park will feature a reclaimed stone with an inscription to dedicate the park to the Donnellys and all victims of violence. The Donnellys were fatally shot during a robbery at their Fairfield jewelry store in 2005.
Previously, Goosetown Park featured a handmade wooden sign designating the park, which recently succumbed to the elements of storms that have hit the area. Money for the new more permanent sign, which will be unveiled on Saturday, were raised through the annual “Donnelly Dash” road race.
Goosetown Park is cared for by Groundwork Bridgeport in collaboration with the city’s Parks & Recreation Department. Groundwork Bridgeport’s youth group have beautified the park with plantings including 100 hybrid tulips donated by Colorblends.
