The Federal Emergency Management Agency has sent up a tent in Veterans Park on Reef Road, helping owners of damaged property with forms and information from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily until further notice.
Property owners and their contractors can also obtain passes that will permit them to pass through National Guard checkpoints set up to protect the damaged area. Checkpoints will remain in effect south of Edward Street until Saturday. Once a pass is obtained, it will continue to allow access.
Residents of the beach area will be allowed access to the area only with the proper pass.
Firefighters are distributing meals ready to eat at Veterans Park as well.
The intent, Police Chief Gary MacNamara and First Selectman Michael Tetreau said, was to set up a one-stop site for those affected by the storm.
