Alfred L. Pesavento, age 87, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Anna Grasso Pesavento, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2012. Born in Fairfield, Mr. Pesavento was a lifelong Fairfield Town resident.
He was a Naval Veteran of WWII, serving with the Sea Bees in the Pacific Theatre. He had worked for the Zandonella Builders for over 25 years before joining his family’s business at Hemlock Hardware until his retirement.
A man of all trades, Alfred was a gifted woodworker and mechanic, he also took great pride in caring for his home. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to Anna, his devoted wife of 66 years, Alfred leaves behind his son, Alfred P. Pesavento and his wife Cathy of Newtown, his grandchildren Staci Vergati and her husband David and Scott Pesavento and his wife Kari, great grandchildren Alyssa Vergati and Brayden Pesavento, a brother John Pesavento of Florida as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Eugene Pesavento.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30am in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center and at 11am in Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Rd., Fairfield. Friends may call on Thursday morning at the Funeral Home from 9:30am until the time of services.
The Pesavento family would like to express their thanks to the staff of the Cambridge Health and Rehabilitation Center and the St. Vincent’s Intensive Care Unit for the care that Alfred received during his illness.
