Day Pitney is sponsoring the second annual Corporate FunRun Fairfield County 5K, an after-work, company team based run/walk in Cranbury Park in Norwalk on July 30, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. with a post-race party that lasts until 9:30 p.m.
“We are excited to be sponsoring this event that will benefit the business community, as well as a well-known tax-exempt organization operating within the Connecticut area, and an important charitable foundation that has been a long-time client of the firm,” said Jennifer Pagnillo, co-chair of Day Pitney’s Tax-Exempt Organization and Charitable Giving Practice.
The exclusive charity of the event is the Bridgeport YMCA, which has provided adult programming since 1884 and youth services since 1929. In addition, Day Pitney client, The Max Cure Foundation, will be collecting used sneakers through its Dunk Your Kicks program at the event and several sponsor locations to raise money to cure pediatric cancer. The Foundation’s Roar Beyond Barriers program currently helps over 50 families throughout the United States, one of which is being treated at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford.
“We are excited that Day Pitney is sponsoring this event, which will draw more attention and greater exposure to the Bridgeport YMCA and our mission in curing pediatric cancer,” said Richard Plotkin, the founder of The Max Cure Foundation, who is also a former partner at Day Pitney.
Other event sponsors include the Fairfield County Business Journal, Equinox, NY Hospitality Group and Fleet Feet Sports. Day Pitney’s team of Tax-Exempt Organizations and Charitable Giving attorneys advise business and industry associations, schools, hospitals, religious organizations, social clubs, museums, healthcare organizations and private foundations with unique challenges, tax requirements and everyday regulatory advice needed to manage complex operations. Over 50 lawyers at the firm are dedicated to advising individual clients on charitable giving, providing a strong perspective as to how both donors and organizations work. Day Pitney lawyers also collaborate across other Day Pitney Practice Groups to advise on contractual matters, corporate governance, mergers, acquisitions and affiliations, employment matters, governmental regulation, healthcare regulations, intellectual property issues, environmental issues, international issues, real estate transactions, litigation and tax, among other matters.
