A member of the Parks & Recreation Commission — and the brother of the first selectman — was arrested Saturday for driving while under the influence of alcoholic beverages after a collision.
John Tetreau, 54, of Rock Majors Road, was arrested after the truck he was driving struck the back of an Audi stopped at a red light on Burroughs Road at the intersection with Black Rock Turnpike. Police said Tetreau had turned left off Black Rock Turnpike and was making a U-turn on Burroughs Road when his truck hit the back of the other vehicle.
Officers said Tetreau failed field sobriety tests at the scene.
In addition to DUI, he was charged with following too closely, operating an unregistered vehicle and operating without insurance.
Tetreau was taken to headquarters, where police said he declined the opportunity to contact an attorney. He was then taken to the hospital by American Medical Response for evaluation.
A passenger in his Dodge pickup refused transport at the scene.
Tetreau was released on a promise to appear in court Aug. 6.
